SUSTAINABLE
ENERGY COMMITMENT CHALLENGE

Do you have solar at home?

Ask your parents/guardians where your household electricity comes from. Do you have solar panels or do you purchase all your electricity from electricity retailer?

Do you have a battery to help power your home?

Ask your parents/guardians whether you have a battery to support a solar PV system.

When I leave the house, I make sure the lights are off

Before you leave the house each day, take a moment to ensure all lights and appliances are switched off.

Is your hot water gas or electric?

Ask your parents/guardians whether your household uses a gas or electric hot water system. If your house uses renewable electricity, electric hot water generates far less greenhouse gas emissions than gas systems.

I use heating and air conditioning in my home

Try to limit your heating and air conditioning to times when you really need it. Consider putting on a jumper if it’s cold or opening a window to let in a breeze if it’s warm.

My main form of transportation is:

Consider walking, riding or taking public transport where possible. It produces far less emissions while also keeping you fit and healthy!

Does your family have an electric or hybrid car?

The world’s second largest source of carbon emissions is the transport industry.

Is your school teaching you about sustainable energy?

Ask your teacher about your school’s sustainable energy initiatives.
