Challenge: Bowhill Engineering had just experienced 22% increases in energy costs on their latest electricity contract. Within the same month, they had a client requesting a sustainability impact report on a tender response. Jodie and her team weren’t experts in energy, they had very little data to support decisions and set a direction forward and too top it off were already time poor running a growing family business.
Approach: Jodie signed up to the Sustainable Energy Commitment and embedded SE247 Energy Management System into the business, importantly at a pace that worked for them. With support of unlimited monthly access to energy consultancy they began with establishing an energy baseline and consistent management reporting, through to developing of an integrated energy transition plan with a clear strategy and roadmap of actions, giving them a high-level of confidence and a clear pathway forward. At this point Bowhill Engineering opted to add further credibility to their plan by achieving Sustainable Energy Commitment Certification.
Now Bowhill Engineering are implementing their plan by utilising the SE247 management tools and resources, including seamless project and service delivery across all stages within the Marketplace of Sustainable Energy Commitment Approved Suppliers and Certified Partners.
Outcome: Since partnering with the Sustainable Energy Commitment, Bowhill Engineering have seen more than a 20% reduction in energy costs, reducing emissions by over 30% and utilising the SE247 management tools and certification are presenting a strong position to their customers and as a result are gaining a competitive advantage and winning contracts. As Jodie says ”it’s a win, win, win”.
